The joint French/German television network ARTE is having a Summer of the 80s:
On Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout July and August 2009 there will be special programming with music, culture and movies from the 80s. There will be specials with or about performers such as Madonna, Talking Heads, U2, Depeche Mode, and Prince, among many others.
Although the main programming languages are German and French, they show many in English in parallel on the second audio channel. They also often stream shows on their website.
Both the German and French websites currently have a nice bilingual music video done especially for ARTE by Nena. The German site is also currently showing an interesting trailer for the Summer of the 80s (most of the music is towards the end).
ARTE is available in most of Western Europe on the Astra 1 and Hotbird (Eutelsat) satellites, as well as on many cable networks. |
