Wiki: Squeezing Out Sparks Wiki Link

This was Parker's 4th album, recorded with his backup band The Rumour. He was never as commercially successful as his contemporaries Elvis Costello or Joe Jackson, but most consider this to be Parker's best work. The album appeared at number 335 in Rolling Stone's list of the top 500 albums of all time.

Allmusic gave it 5 stars:
Quote:
Generally regarded as Graham Parker's finest album, Squeezing Out Sparks is a masterful fusion of pub rock classicism, new wave pop, and pure vitriol that makes even his most conventional singer/songwriter numbers bristle with energy. Not only does Parker deliver his best, most consistent set of songs, but he offers more succinct hooks than before...one of the great rock records of the post-punk era.
