Herbert Grönemeyer is one of the most popular German singer/songwriters (he also acts and even appeared in the 1981 movie "Das Boot").
This was his big breakthrough album and an absolutely HUGE hit. It was in the top 100 of the Hitparade for 79 weeks and was the best selling album in 1984 in Germany (and is still the bestselling German language record to date).
To put that in perspective: 1984 was the same year Michael Jackson's "Thriller" came out and was the best-seller that year worldwide (but not in Germany-because this album had the top spot). |
