Stellar performance by Gods of Hair Metal...
By: FerrisBueller
Date: 27 Sep 2010
Rating:
Def Leppard's "Hysteria" was a stunning achievement, and without a doubt the pinnacle of the band's career. With 5 tracks from the album having videos created for them on MTV, it is easy to overlook some of the other tracks on the album. Make no mistake: even the less popular songs like the anti-war anthem Gods of War, Don't Shoot Shotgun, and the speed hair metalRun Riot are quality songs worthy of listening to, even today. With the band's following release "Adrenalize," and the untimely death of guitarist Steve Clark, (along with the rise of grunge rock in popularity) a decline was pretty much inevitable. Nonetheless, this album is outstanding as an exemplar of late '80s excess, hair metal, and superb song craftsmanship.
