Isn't country/pop a contradiction in terms? |

I voted no. This is a good album – we used to have it back at the time (on cassette LOL) and it got played a lot – but I don't feel it would mesh well with the other material here overall.
@b-movies: This "country/pop" style isn't at all uncommon, it's called "countrypolitan" and it actually dominated the country charts over the '70s. This album is towards the tail end of its popular run, just spillage over into early '80s. |

I'm with MoJo - I love Ronnie Milsap, seen him in concert, owned the cassettes, etc, but he's definitely a country act. So, no way. _________________ Dear Mr. Vernon, ... I hear Ronnie...I think back to 80s. We have Kenny Rogers, Eddie Rabbit, Dolly Pardon and Dan Seals...to name a few. Country artists with great 80s songs played on pop radio. I say we keep adding country artists |

I agree. Pop is pop. Keep the country music to just the pop-singles, and that works for me.

*Nods* This would be one of the exceptions to the "Let's add all the tracks from this album" rule I usually favor. "Any Day Now" is the big hit from this album, and that's all I'd really like to see added.
Ronnie Milsap is one of the few country artists I can think of who included electronic effects in his 80's music (see "She Loves My Car, from the One More Try For Love album), which should make him a worthy addition, aside from his good music. After all, if everyone knows who he is... and owned his music on cassette... and went to his concerts... then he was at least somewhat popular in the 80's.
As always, I'll leave it to JERIC to make the final call on whether or not he fits. _________________ "The question isn't 'What are we going to do today?'-- It's 'What *aren't* we going to do today?'" |
