I've been noticing lately that there's a HUGE fluctuation in listener counts. Sometimes by day, sometimes by time.

Today is the first time in quite a while that I've seen us at 114 at 10:15am. Now it's a Friday, which may mean something.

Usually we peak out in the 80's during the midafternoon, US time. Sometimes we push into the 90's

Has anyone else noticed trends in the listeners? I'm curious if it's based on what we're playing or just more time-based.

It is definitely a time-of-day thing. The Stats page has a graph that shows the variations. The graph may not show up for you. It didn't for me for a while until I did some kind of Java plug-in upgrade.

Abe, I do see the graph but I get a popup that says it's using an older version of Java and do I want to run it anyway. But all I can get to is the last 24 hours; I can't compare different days or anything. Smile

Slarti, I know most of us daytimers appreciate that we have some folks up late enough to scare off SAM. Smile If not for the occasional burst of late-night activity, some songs would never see the light of day!

Another thing which changes the listener counts is whether or not 1980s.fm gets listed in the Windows Media Player guide. Each time it does, you will generally see a huge spike in listener counts.

And yes, time does play a factor... but if a VIP or two is requesting good music, you will usually see the listener counts trend upward, regardless of what the time is. Hand-picked music almost always wins out over SAM's choices, as you might guess... Wink

It is amazing how many people select a station off the front page of the Windows Media Player guide.
