Camouflage - Voices & Images

Missing that smiling face |
|
The German synth band Camouflage, echoing that Depeche Mode sound never gained the popularity that they should have got. A few good tracks on this but 'The Great Commandment" is the shining star on it. Too bad the other stellar track "That Smiling Face" isn't available on this one.

The B-52's - Cosmic Thing
|
One of the best albums in the Cosmos |
|
The B-52's big return with an excellently produced album by Don Was and Nile Rodgers. Fantastic songs throughout the WHOLE album including the instrumental "Follow Your Bliss". All 10 tracks are so worthy and genuine ear worms that make this album a must have on any road trip....in a car.....that seats about 20.

Platinum Blonde - Contact
|
The last spin.....for a while. |
|
Platinum Blonde, A Canadian band that originally started out as a Police tribute band, with a constantly growing and evolving sound that some fans appreciated more than others.
This album marked the second outing as a 4 piece.
The band was featured on the television show "T.N.T" starring Mr. T. Mark Holmes played the part as the bands lead singer and helped apprehend the bad guy. Total eighties production. Check it out!!

Although this album was not as widely accepted by most Platinum Blonde fans as their best work, it is worth a listen to.
Platinum Blonde did release an album after Kenny Mcleans death in 2008. They are still touring as a 3 piece with a new drummer, Dan Todd after the original drummer, Chris Steffler, currently suffers from tinnitus.

Yaz - Upstairs At Eric's
|
Missing a few vowels |
|
Great album. First time I heard this was on a bus to Stratford on a walkman. Right out of the gate, "Don't GO" hits you with some amazing synth sounds and sets the tone for Alice Moyer's power house vocals.
Regrettably, the bizarre track of "I before E, except after C" is missing. Probably for the best as it is quite trippy, and I'm sure SAM would exploit it over and over again.
Interestingly enough, this group was known as Yazzo in the U.K.
AND...... the other half of this group was none other than Vince Clarke that went on to form Eurasure.
Great album tough.

ZZ Top - Eliminator

That ICONIC Ford Coupe |
|
Eliminator introduced the Iconic 1933 Ford coupe that Billy Gibbons had custom built with Corvette engine.
It is currently on display in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in Cleveland. It was featured in several videos off Eliminator.

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell
|
Yell- like it a llllot. |
|
This album was a must have tape for the car....with the auto flip feature, you could rock along with Billy as your co-pilot. The only real drag on this album selection is the extra long "Flesh For Fantasy" version. The radio edit was better with less "stuttering". Too much of a good thing? Maybe, but in the words of Billy himself, '..... more, more, MORE!!!'

Sting - ...Nothing Like The Sun
|
Should have some more songs off this one....like Little Wing. |
|
Sting......the man who fancies himself an actor, but able to laugh at himself sometimes (see cameo in Zoolander 2....on the other hand....don't...it is a horrible movie....but this is a review of this album so I digress......)
Another quality solo album with original works and a remake of Jimmy Hendrix's "Little Wing" ...absent from this selection at press time.
Worthy of a full album listen.

Daryl Hall & John Oates - H2O
|
Need a few more tracks available |
|
Agreement with Devin888, this is one album that needs more tracks....the 3 available are awesome but the title of the this album is so clever....H2O (Hall and Oats) It's like they did it on purpose.

Glass Tiger - Thin Red Line, The
|
A Tiger....in Canada??? |
|
Glass Tiger shot on the scene big time in 1986 with the hit "Don't forget Me (when I'm Gone) featuring the back ground vocals of Bryan Adams. From Newmarket, Ontario, they started early doing the local high school circuit, but as soon as they got the frequent radio play...they were set.
An amazing album and fantastic band that still tour today with pretty much all the original members.
Their follow up album was also a very worthy listen.
Also, if you are familiar with the piano cords for "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, they are quite similar to 'Someday"

Jan Hammer, Glenn Frey, Chaka Khan (...) - Miami Vice
|
A ground breaking show...and a fantastic soundtrack |
|
Miami Vice was one of those television shows that, if you weren't there, you probably didn't get it. Nothing like the crappy movie, this show was epic. With huge guest stars like Phil Collins, Sheena Easton and Ted Nugent, to name just a few. Gritty plot lines, fantastic sets, cool cars amazing soundtracks and a script that had the feel of a modern Shakespear, it was an hour of dazzling entertainment.
As always, could use more tunes on this soundtrack as well as the sequel album.....maybe someday???
